You're 15, 16, maybe 17, and the idea of a year in another country is equal parts thrilling and terrifying. Good. Here's what it actually costs, where you can go, and what the year really looks like, from people who did it, not a brochure.

ROTEX 7430 is made up of students who went abroad and came home changed. We exist to make sure the next ones get to go, and to tell them the truth about what the year is actually like.

What we actually do
The “been there” committee
Rotarians run the program. Host families open their homes. ROTEX does the part neither of them can: tell you the truth about what the year feels like, because we were you eighteen months ago.
- Outbound orientations. The sessions where future exchange students ask the questions they're too embarrassed to ask an adult.
- Inbound welcome. Meeting this year's inbounds early, so they know a face before they need one.
- District events. Trips, gatherings, and the traditions that turn a scattered group of teenagers into a class.
- Mentoring. One returnee, one current student, all year.

Needs real content. These three cards are structure only. Two or three
genuine student write-ups (400–600 words each) would carry this whole site. Nothing
here should go live with invented names or quotes. Rotary also requires signed written
permission from anyone appearing in a photo or video, and most of these students are
minors, so that means a parent or guardian signature before any face goes on this page.
